A bit about us.....

A right motley lot form the Stripey-Jumper Walkabout Crew. Collected from the four corners of Britain, we have members from the professions of Nursing, Catering, Teaching, Gardening, Loafing around doing nothinging, Beer Sales, Acupuncture - we even have an ex Cardboard Box Salesman.

We started back in the mid-90's, upon holiday together, as a backlash against the appalling entertainment at the holiday sites we used to visit. These places would encourage parents to push their kids in talent competitions ( resulting in very upset kids and stressed out parents), make parents feel guilty if they didn't " provide their kids with the opportunity in talent competitions and worst of all, make us leave the beach early in order to get a seat so that parents could be ritually humiliated. We took our little lot on a tour of the South West Coast Beaches over the following summers, pulling in random beach goers into our performances, such as Cave-Man Rounders at Bude, Eygptian Surfing and Mass Belly-Dancing at Hale.

Pirates on the Isle of Wight ( The Captain of the ferry was taken hostage and we claimed the ship until The Navy was sighted off the starboard bow, so we had to sit back in our seats and continue dinner) and putting on a Medieval Party at a haunted castle in the arse end of Wales are some of the winter events that we have staged.

Progressing from this, two of our Crew ( Sean and Neil) were asked to run an event at a Christmas Bash, following a party that we put on for The Millenium. They have been asked back every year since and it has become an annual event.

In 2003 Flounder was asked to Compere for the first Endorse-it in-Dorset Festival. He gained experience introducing bands, worked various Festivals including, Glastonbury, Larmer Tree, Wimbourne and is the Resident Compere at Endorse-it. He also is the special guest at festival performances of Pronghorn and The Highliners.

The Fluffettes were formed at the first Endorse-it festival, working with Flounder as Flounder and The Fluffettes (funnily enough). As well as doing backstage hospitality, The Fluffettes are excellent at fundraising during these events, for local charities. They also form the backbone of many of the other acts accessible through this site, having performed them at various festivals over the years.

WTF! Promotions is run by Flounder and has a stable of hand-picked bands that consistenly put on a great performance - see menu for details

So it seemed like a good idea to put all this together and so Stripey-Jumper.co.uk was formed. Festival organisers and promoters can have a bit of a root about and pic'n'mix what they fancy, knowing that they will get a quality product ( see the testimonials page) and not just a type who turn up, eats, shoots and leaves. ( Horny Panda joke - sorry)

We can't stress enough the thanks we feel from people for supporting us and helping us along our way over the years.

These include:-

All The Pronghorn people for seeing something that Flounder didn't know was there (the name for starters - thanks Toni ).

All at LGO Festivals, especially Big G, Ffi, and Lamma - The Backstage Crew of Plim, Dragon Dave and Dave the soundman - Angus and Susu for keeping Flounders throat in order over the three days.

Ned(ly) ( for his big'uns).

Neil at Efestivals for the shameless usage of his most excellent site, photos etc.

The Highliners for being them.

Sean Trent for the photos - superb.

All our kids for not divorcing us.

So there we have it, all nice and neatly packaged under one roof. Do have a mooch around the site, leave messages, email questions, make yourselves at home. But no peeing on the bog seats, make sure you leave it in the state it was found and don't eat in here unless you've brought enough for everyone.

Take it steady,

The Stripeys
